Superstar Sabrina Carpenter is set to play the innocent Alice in a new “Alice in Wonderland” film

I don’t exactly get “Alice in Wonderland” vibes from Sabrina Carpenter.
It could certainly be a bit difficult for Sabrina Carpenter, who is sexier now than ever, to play the innocent Alice in the “Alice in Wonderland” musical, but it’s conceivable they are going for a more modern and lightly-clad version.

Pop star Sabrina Carpenter is ready for her first major film leading role and will also produce the project for Universal Pictures.
According to Variety, the 24-year-old will both play the lead role and serve as a producer for a new musical film based on Lewis Carroll’s classic “Alice in Wonderland”.

This will be a turning point in Carpenter’s career, who has just received six Grammy nominations for her critically acclaimed album “Short n’ Sweet,” including in the categories Album of the Year and Song of the Year for the super-hit “Espresso.”

An acclaimed director is on the team
The project has also assembled an impressive team behind the camera. Lorene Scafaria, known for the successful film “Hustlers” with Jennifer Lopez, will both write the screenplay and direct. Marc Platt, the man behind the films “La La Land” and “Wicked,” will produce the film together with Carpenter herself.

According to sources in Variety, it was actually Carpenter who took the initiative for the project about a year ago when she presented her concept to Universal Pictures.

From Disney Channel to Grammy-nominated star
Carpenter has solid acting experience, with roles in films like “The Hate U Give” and the Netflix comedy “Tall Girl.” However, it is in recent years that she has exploded as one of the world’s biggest pop stars:

  • Global Success: The hits “Espresso” and “Please Please Please” have topped charts all over the world and achieved billions of streams.
  • Awards and Recognition: Besides the six Grammy nominations, she has won a number of awards for her music.
  • Tour Success: She has recently completed a highly successful tour and was an opening act for Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour.”

The story of Alice falling down the rabbit hole has previously proven to be a box office success for Disney, as Tim Burton’s 2010 version grossed over a billion dollars globally. Now, the new, musical version is being brought to life by one of the world’s most popular artists.

I don’t exactly get “Alice in Wonderland” vibes.
