Michael Mann confirms that Adam Driver is in talks to appear in “Heat 2”.
Last year, the novel “Heat 2” was published, which is both a sequel and a prequel to “Heat” by Michael Mann and written by himself and Meg Gardiner. The contemporary action told the events after the film’s finale, while the flashbacks presented the fate of a younger Neil McCauley. Reports have been circulating for months that a film sequel to “Heat” will also be made. Michael Mann also confirmed it a few weeks ago in London at an event organized by Deadline.
Mann also commented on the rumors that the candidate to play young McCauley (Robert De Niro played the role in the original) was Adam Driver, with whom Mann made “Ferrari”. In a new interview with EW, the director confirmed that he had already been in talks with the actor on this topic.
The novel was a publishing success last year. Rumors about “Heat 2” have been circulating since its publication. Among other things, it was said: that Pacino would return to the role of Vincent Hanna in a contemporary action, and that Ana de Armas would join the cast as McCauley’s love interest in flashbacks. Pacino himself suggested Timothe Chalamet as a candidate to play his younger version.
