British film won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival

The British film “Poor Things” won the award for best film when the Venice film festival ended on Saturday.

The film, starring Emma Stone and directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, is described as a gothic comedy and is about Bella Baxter, a young woman who is brought back to life by a brilliant and unorthodox scientist.

American Cailee Spaeny (25) won the award for best actress for her interpretation of Priscilla Presley in the film “Priscilla”. Best male actor was fellow countryman Peter Sarsgaard (52), who won the award for his role as a man with dementia in the film “Memory”.

The Japanese film “Aku wa sonzai shinai” (“Evil Does Not Exist”) won the Silver Bear for second best film.

The 80th Venice International Film Festival has been running since August 30 and ended with an awards ceremony on Saturday evening.
