Timothée Chalamet and Selena Gomez to Lead Illumination’s New Animated Sci‑Fi Adventure Not Alone.
Illumination, the powerhouse studio behind global hits like Despicable Me, Minions, and The Super Mario Bros. Movie, has announced its next major project: an original animated feature titled Not Alone, starring Timothée Chalamet and Selena Gomez in the lead voice roles.

A Cosmic Story About Connection, Chaos, and Three Tiny Aliens
Chalamet makes his animation debut as Joe, an introverted rocket mechanic who prefers a quiet, solitary life. Gomez voices Fran, a brilliant astro‑botanist developing the world’s first plant‑powered rocket.
Their paths collide when they’re assigned to prepare the rocket’s inaugural launch. Sparks fly immediately—though both characters are hilariously unskilled in romance. Their budding relationship becomes even more complicated when three small, mischievous aliens—Dunk, Welly, and Shirm—crash into Joe’s home while fleeing an overzealous but incompetent interplanetary officer named Zandro.
The aliens quickly decide that Fran’s experimental rocket might be their only hope of returning home safely.

The film is produced by Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri, with executive producers Richard Curtis, Joy Poirel, and David Distenfeld.
Release Date
The film is scheduled to hit theaters on April 16, 2027.
