Iron Maiden Announce Global Cinema Release for New Documentary

Iron Maiden fans around the world have reason to celebrate. Universal Pictures International has officially announced Iron Maiden: Burning Ambition, a feature-length documentary that will hit cinemas worldwide on May 7, 2026. Tickets go on sale March 18 via the film’s official website, and anticipation is already sky‑high.

Directed by Malcolm Venville (Churchill at War) and produced by Dominic Freeman (Spirits in the Forest), the documentary traces Iron Maiden’s extraordinary 50‑year journey — from their gritty beginnings in East London in 1975 to becoming one of the most influential heavy metal bands on the planet.

The film dives deep into the band’s evolution, their pioneering role in the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, and the relentless drive that helped them sell over 100 million records and perform nearly 2,500 concerts across 64 countries.

Burning Ambition features on‑camera reflections from an impressive lineup of admirers, including Oscar winner Javier Bardem, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich, and hip‑hop legend Chuck D. Their insights highlight Iron Maiden’s cultural impact far beyond the metal scene.

To mark the announcement, the production also unveiled striking key artwork created by renowned artist Albert “Akirant” Quirantes, known for his long‑standing visual contributions to the Iron Maiden universe.

The documentary lands at a perfect moment: Iron Maiden are currently in the midst of their massive Run For Your Lives world tour. The band recently delivered a triumphant homecoming show at London Stadium — just miles from where their story began.

The momentum continues into 2026, with more than 50 shows scheduled worldwide, including the newly announced EddFest, a one‑day celebration at the historic Knebworth Park on July 11.

With 17 studio albums and a fiercely independent spirit spanning half a century, Iron Maiden have carved out a legacy unmatched in heavy metal. Burning Ambition promises to be the ultimate cinematic tribute — a film that captures not just their music, but the global phenomenon they’ve become.
