Johnny Depp will direct the film. Shooting for the film he directs has started!

After many years of break, Johnny Depp will appear on the other side of the camera! He will direct a film about the famous painter! Shooting for the film has already started!

Johnny Depp has had intense years behind him. The actor and musician was accused by his ex-wife, actress Amber Heard, of physical and mental violence. The couple met in court many times, and last year the trial in which Depp accused his former partner of defamation officially ended. On June 1, 2022, the jury announced its verdict. The jury ruled in favor of the actor, awarding him compensation of $10 million, which the actress is obliged to pay him. However, the jury decided that Johnny also defamed Amber during the trial (specifically, one of his lawyers) and ordered him to pay his ex-wife $2 million. The former spouses reached an agreement. Depp has regained his good reputation and is working on film sets again.

This verdict led public opinion to real euphoria and Depp was removed from the “Hollywood blacklist”. In mid-May, the Cannes festival took place, and the prestigious event opened with the screening of “Jeanne du Barry”, in which the actor plays the role of Louis XV and in which, for the first time in his career, he plays in French. As it turns out, this role is just the beginning of Johnny Depp’s great return to cinema.

Depp will direct a biographical film about one of the most famous painters who lived and worked at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, Amedeo Modigliani. The main roles in the production, titled Modi, will be played by Riccardo Scamarcio (Modigliani), Al Pacino and Pierre Niney. Modigliani’s story will be based on the play by Dennis McIntyre, and the script was written by the Polish creator, Jerzy Kromolowski, and his wife, Mary Kromolowski.

Shooting for the film has already started! The film is currently being shot in Budapest. Most likely, in a few weeks the work will move to Italy.
