A Y2K-Inspired Love Story
Set in 2008, Return to You follows a lonely attorney who receives a DVD from a dying woman intended for her husband. Armed with only the clues left on the disc, she embarks on a mission to track down the mysterious recipient. The Mean Girls Connection
For many fans, the biggest draw of Return to You is the reunion between Lohan and Mark Waters. Their partnership helped define a generation of teen comedies.
The pair first worked together on Disney’s Freaky Friday in 2003, where Lohan starred alongside Jamie Lee Curtis. Just a year later, they joined forces again for Mean Girls, the Tina Fey-penned comedy that became a pop culture phenomenon and remains one of the most quoted films of the 2000s.
Their latest collaboration marks the first time the actress and director have reteamed since those career-defining projects.

Lohan Strengthens Her Netflix Partnership
Return to You continues Lohan’s successful relationship with Netflix. In recent years, she has become one of the streaming giant’s most recognizable rom-com stars, leading films such as Falling for Christmas, Irish Wish and Our Little Secret.
Interestingly, Our Little Secret also featured Mean Girls actor Tim Meadows, giving Lohan another connection to the iconic comedy that made her a household name.
A Reunion Years in the Making
Earlier, Mark Waters revealed that he was not involved in Disney’s Freakier Friday, despite expressing interest in returning to the franchise. However, he also shared that he and Lohan had remained on good terms and recently discussed working together again.
That conversation has now led to Return to You, a project that could reunite the creative chemistry that helped launch some of the most memorable comedies of the early 2000s.
Written by Eric Champnella, the film is produced by Brad Krevoy and Lindsay Lohan, with Olivia Krevoy, Jimmy Townsend and Galen Fletcher serving as executive producers.
With a nostalgic setting, a mystery-driven love story and the reunion of the team behind Mean Girls, Return to You is already shaping up to be one of Netflix’s most anticipated romance releases.
