Maul Returns in Action-Packed Shadow Lord Trailer — And an Ahsoka Villain Joins Him

The galaxy far, far away has a habit of resurrecting its most compelling villains, and once again, Darth Maul refuses to stay gone. With the first trailer for Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord finally released, fans now have their best look yet at the upcoming Disney+ series arriving in 2026 — and it’s already sparking major conversation.

Yes, the action is intense. Yes, Maul looks as menacing as ever. But the biggest surprise? A familiar Inquisitor from Ahsoka is making an unexpected appearance.

Set roughly a year after The Clone Wars and about a decade before Maul’s cameo in Solo: A Star Wars Story, the series drops viewers into a dark era of Imperial dominance. The Empire is hunting down surviving Jedi, Inquisitors roam the galaxy, and Maul — no longer Darth, but still deadly — is carving out his own path of vengeance and survival.

The trailer showcases Maul at his most dangerous, with Sam Witwer once again lending his iconic voice to the character. But amid the lightsaber clashes and shadowy confrontations, one figure stands out.

Fans of Ahsoka will immediately recognize Marrok, the mysterious Inquisitor who served Morgan Elsbeth and fought Ahsoka Tano twice before meeting a bizarre end in a cloud of green mist. His appearance in Maul – Shadow Lord raises huge questions.

After all, Ahsoka takes place decades later, long after the fall of the Empire. So how is Marrok alive — and fighting Maul — in this earlier era?

Theories have already begun swirling: Was Marrok resurrected by the Nightsisters? Was he a reanimated corpse all along? Or is Maul – Shadow Lord about to reveal a deeper, darker truth about the Inquisitors? The series may finally clarify his origins, especially since Tales of the Empire identified him as the First Brother, but never explained his supernatural fate.

The trailer also hints at the Empire’s relentless pursuit of Maul. Given his power, his knowledge, and his severed connection to Darth Sidious, it’s no surprise that the Emperor wants him eliminated. But fans already know one thing: Marrok won’t be the one to kill Maul. That honor belongs to Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars Rebels.

So the real question becomes: Will Marrok survive this series, or will Maul – Shadow Lordshow his true death? The show premieres with two episodes on April 6, followed by weekly double‑episode drops until the finale on May 4 — Star Wars Day.
