Meghan Trainor is celebrating a new chapter in her life — and doing so with honesty, gratitude, and a powerful message about modern parenthood. The Grammy-winning singer has revealed that she and her husband, actor Daryl Sabara, welcomed their third child, a daughter named Mikey Moon, via surrogate.
The couple, who married in 2018 and are already parents to sons Riley and Barry, shared the joyful news on Sunday. But alongside the excitement, Trainor also opened up about the deeply personal journey that led them to surrogacy.
“It wasn’t our first choice”
Speaking to People magazine, Trainor explained that the decision came after extensive conversations with medical professionals.
“It wasn’t our first choice, but we had endless conversations with our doctors on this journey, and this was the safest way for us to be able to continue growing our family.”
The singer emphasized that surrogacy was not a compromise — but a blessing.
“We are forever grateful for that option.”
A message of acceptance and visibility
Trainor used the moment to highlight the importance of normalizing surrogacy and celebrating all paths to parenthood.

“I want people to know that surrogacy is just another beautiful way to build a family. It’s not something to whisper about or judge. It’s rooted in trust, science, love and teamwork.”
She added that every family’s story is unique — and equally valid.
Honoring the surrogate: “The greatest gift of our lives”
The All About That Bass singer described her experience with the surrogate as “incredible,” praising her strength, kindness, and devotion.
“Our surrogate is one of the most selfless, strong and loving people I’ve ever met. We felt so connected throughout the entire journey, and I’ll always be grateful for the care and love she showed our daughter.”
Trainor said the surrogate gave them “the greatest gift of our lives.”
A joyful announcement
On January 20, Trainor shared the news on Instagram with a carousel of photos featuring their now family of five.
“Our baby girl Mikey Moon Trainor has finally made it to the world thanks to our incredible, superwoman surrogate. We are forever grateful to all the doctors, nurses, teams who made this dream possible.”
A big year ahead
Alongside the excitement of welcoming a new baby, Trainor is preparing to release her next album, Toy With Me, on April 24 — making 2026 a milestone year both personally and professionally.
