New Hunger Games book and movie in the works

Suzanne Collins, author of the “Hunger Games” series, is ready with a new book in 2025. The movie will be released in 2026.

The upcoming book will be the fifth in the series and will be titled “Sunrise on the Reaping”.

The novel is expected to be published on March 18, 2025.

The American Suzanne Collins is the author behind the popular “Hunger Games” book series, which has also been made into a film.

The production company Lionsgate, which is behind the film adaptations, announced on Thursday that “Sunrise on the Reaping” will also be released as a film.

It will be available for viewing on November 20, 2026.

The action of “Sunrise on the Reaping” takes place 24 years before the action of the first book, “The Game of Death” from 2008, and 40 years after the action of the most recent book, “A Tale of Songbirds and Snakes”, from 2020.

According to The Guardian, Suzanne Collins states that “Sunrise on the Reaping” was inspired by philosopher David Hume’s idea of ​​implicit submission and his quote, “the ease with which the many are ruled by the few”.
