The production company behind the «Top Gun» films, Paramount, has emerged victorious from the lawsuit against them over rights.
The original «Top Gun» movie was inspired by a magazine article from 1983, and the journalist’s heirs sued Paramount when they made the sequel «Top Gun: Maverick» in 2023, without renewing the license.
The Hollywood Reporter writes that the court agreed with the studio that there are too many differences between the film and the article to be covered by copyright law.
