“The Thin Man” is a crime story from 1934. At the beginning, it was not expected to be a great success, but in the end the production turned out to be a hit. The title received four Oscar nominations – for best picture, best actor in a leading role (William Powell), best director (W.S. Van Dyke) and best adapted screenplay.
The production was such a success that it was decided to make as many as 5 sequels. It seems that “The Thin Man” will be popular again, because now there are plans for another film. Not so much a sequel, but simply a remake of the original from the 1930s. The rights to “The Thin Man” were bought by studios owned by Margot Robbie (LuckyChap Entertainment) and Brad Pitt (Plan B).
What is “The Thin Man” about? Former detective Nick Charles (played by William Powell) and his wealthy wife Nora (Myrna Loy) decide to solve a murder for fun. They are looking for the murderer of inventor Wynant (Edward Ellis) and meet him – after successive violent deaths – at a party.
