Vin Diesel Confirms ‘Fast Forever’ Begins Filming in December — Emotional Finale Ahead.
Vin Diesel has officially revealed that “Fast Forever,” the eleventh and final mainline installment of the Fast & Furious saga, is set to begin filming in December. The announcement came during the 25th anniversary screening of the original 2001 film, where Diesel shared how deeply the new script affected him.
A Script That Made Diesel Cry
Speaking to Variety, Diesel explained that reaching a satisfying finale took four years of development and four different writing teams. Only recently did he receive a version that felt worthy of closing the franchise.
“Halfway through the script, one tear. By the end, I was crying,” Diesel said. “Sometimes even the toughest guys in the world need to cry.”
He told the audience that he couldn’t hold back his emotions after reading the final draft, even though his sister jokingly urged him to stop crying.

Director Still Waiting to Read the Script
While Diesel is fully committed to the new draft, director Louis Leterrier admitted to Polygon that he hasn’t read it yet.
“There will be an ending, and it’s great,” Leterrier said. “I love Vin, I love Universal. We’ll see, hopefully.”
His comments suggest that while the creative team is aligned on delivering a powerful conclusion, some pieces are still falling into place.

The Franchise’s Legacy
With a global box office total of $7.3 billion, Fast & Furious stands as Universal’s longest-running and most profitable franchise. “Fast Forever” is scheduled to hit theaters on March 17, 2028, marking the end of Dominic Toretto’s main storyline after more than two decades.
